A new rear bumper is also the standard for 2009 Toyota Rav4. The option extends to provide power tilting and sliding glass sunroof, navigation, leather upholstery and 8-way power driver’s seat, back-up camera, and auto on/off headlights. The Extra Value Kit incorporates a sunroof with a roof rack, daytime running lights and a six-CD change.

But Sport does not offer a third-row seat. The new Sport Look Model is only available on Sport V6 and 4WD models, eliminates the spare wheel from the rear door and covers run-flat tires. It also adds heated side mirrors with incorporated turn signals, a stainless-steel exhaust tip, and extra interior brightness.

Options include the third-row seat, eight-way power driver’s seat without leather, and a premium JBL stereo with Bluetooth phone connectivity, plus most of the options from the Sport level, mostly for the same prices. What is the Safety Level of Toyota Rav4?

Safety features on all 2009 Toyota RAV4s include dual-stage frontal airbags, side-impact airbags, and side curtain airbags. New for 2009, active headrests on the driver and front passenger seats move up and forward in certain rear-end collisions to help reduce the distance between the occupant’s head and the headrest.

Front seatbelts incorporate pre-tensioners and force limiters. Also standard are LATCH child safety seat anchors, antilock brakes (ABS) with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (VSC), traction control (TRAC), and a tire pressure monitor.

The Toyota RAV4 looks like other contemporary Toyotas, featuring an aerodynamically efficient ovoid profile strategically relieved by sharp character lines.

Most noticeable are the new, vertical brake scoops, lined with black ribs, that bite into the bumper beneath the headlights, where the fog lights used to be. More subtle is the way the main grille now integrates better with the cooling slit just beneath it, while the formerly full-width slit beneath that has been replaced by three smaller slots.

Toyota Rav4 2009 Limited’s have a look all their own, with a single, deep, trapezoidal grille opening bolding bisected by a body-color horizontal bar with a large, chrome Toyota World-T Logo at its center.

A pseudo-skid plate wraps up from the bottom, leaving no room for additional lower air intakes.

Alloy wheels have five spokes on Sport, six on Limited. A wide track gives the RAV4 a solid stance visually, while resisting rollovers in emergency maneuvers.

The new Sport Appearance Package for 2009 Toyota Rav4 eliminates the spare entirely, and centers the license plate up high beneath a bright metal strip that’s just beneath another World-T logo that is just under the window. A bulge low down on the tailgate fills in the step in the standard bumper when the tailgate on the Rav4 is closed.

Within, the 2009 RAV4 is as fantastic as ever, Position of gauges would be familiar to those who used the previous Toyota RAV4. The position and role of the central stack controls remains virtually the same as they have always been, and also extends to the configuration of the hand brake and the shift lever.

Materials are of great quality. The basic seat fabric has been modified for 2009. Install and polish is Toyota grade, which is fantastic. All 3 trim levels follow the same design, with different but complimentary colors and polished metallic trim elements around the stereo and climate controls, covering the shift gate and swinging around the door knobs.

The front seats are comfortable but not too firm, with moderate bolsters and good protection for the thigh. The tilting-and-telescope steering wheel and the height-adjustable driver’s seat make it easy for almost any size driver to find a good position and without the additional difficulty of adjusting pedals. The significantly higher seating position, low cowl and sloping hood allow for decent front visibility. Long side windows make it easy to inspect the road.

The Suzuki XL7 has more headroom than the RAV4, with a substantial 1.6 inches in the third row in specific. In the legroom, the XL7 gives up half an inch to the RAV4 on the front, but gets the half an inch back in the second row, and boosts the Toyota by almost a full inch in the third row. But in the hip space, it’s the XL7 that loses by 1.6 inches on the front.
